Hailey Coufal is a 2017-18 Nebraska State FFA Vice President. She is the sixth in our seven part series showcasing the state officers.

Hailey grew up around the production of cattle and raising crops at her families farm, CTC, that her grandpa started and has spread through four generations. She wanted to expand her experiences from just cattle to swine, sheep, chickens and rabbits. Her Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) was diversified livestock, which consisted of raising, showing and selling her own cattle, sheep, chickens, rabbits and pigs. She inherited the sheep business from her brother, which gave her great interest in working with livestock. Hailey decided to expand and added cattle, pigs, rabbits and chickens. She said, "Going through many struggles and hardships has taught me not only responsibility, but work ethic."

Hailey is from Howells and was part of the Howells-Dodge FFA Chapter. She now is at UNL majoring in Agricultural Business. Hailey is part of the Engler Program, Chi Omega Sorority, member of the Nebraska Cattlemen, member of Collegiate Farm Bureau and UNL Ag Econ/ Ag Business club.

Her favorite experience as a state officer has been going to Louisville, Kentucky over the summer to work with a young boys and girls club. That experience helped her realize that she loves working with young students and has led her to working with food security in Lincoln and volunteering at an elementary school with low income families.

Hailey said she wanted to be a state officer to have an impact on students lives and it sounds like she has accomplished that!
